Not everybody likes blacked out watches. But everybody loves Seiko. So what do you do when Seiko expands their lineup of all-black watches? Well, you call them God Tier and try to get one of the limited editions.

After murdering out the Tortoise and King Samurai last year, Seiko is going dark with the 1965 Divers SLA067, the Divers SPB335, and Alpinist SPBJ337. I told my mom when I was a kid that I would never wear a blacked out watch. Now I have to call her and tell her that Seiko pried my money out of my hand for that GORGEOUS Alpinist.

We have some pretty limited numbers for some of them:

  • 600 (SLA067), 4,500 (SPB335), 5,500 (SPB337)

And pretty 🤪 prices:

  • $3,100 (SLA067), $950 (SPB335), $925 (SPB337).

No, really. I know Seiko is God Tier. But over $3000? Instead, get this:

One day, someone at TAG Heuer will come to work, check their email and see a new edition of It’s About Time with news of yet another masterful homage executed by Longines and they will decide it’s time to shut TAG down because they just can’t cut it any more.

Yes, Longines might be on par with TAG when it comes to a horology back catalog on which to rely on when making new watches. But while TAG just throws some new colors on the Monaco, the only good watch they have, Longines brings back a deep cut from the B side of that forgotten record nobody ever listened to.

Introducing the Longines Pilot Majetek - a beast of a watch (no, really, 43mm) that’s a call-back to a 1935 pilot’s watch designed for Czech Pilots. It’s different, it’s cool, it looks to fit nice on a wrist and it’s only $3,750 or $3,850 in a limited boxed edition with leather and NATO strap options. Yeah, I’ll take that over a black SLA067.

Here at It’s About Time we have a love-hate relationship with RM. On one hand, we have never been greeted better at a boutique. On the other, we have never cried more when we were told what the prices are. So it’s not so much of a love-hate relationship, as it is a love-I’m too poor to afford this relationship.

It’s actually surprising that it took RM more than 20 years to put out it’s first women’s model. It’s very cool. It’s also $185,000.

A perpetual calendar is a wickedly cool complication. And it seems like every watchmaker ever decided to let you know how hard they worked on that calendar by sticking on a million dials. Just look at the AP REF.26574OR.OO.1220OR.03 or the Lange 706.050. Even the Patek Philippe 5236P has three date windows and a sub dial.

In walks the H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Perpetual Calendar in Tantalum. Yeah, it’s a perpetual calendar with just a date window. Does it get more boss than that? It’s not so simple, of course. Just look at that bitchin’ dial. The case is made out of Tantalum, a metal so strong most watchmakers don’t want you to know about it because their tools are too weak to work on it. This is a watch that’s worth every penny of the $80.000 they’re asking for it.

Yeah, it might not be an official collab. But tell me that’s not the Simpsons purple with tiny donuts on the dial?

⚙️Watch Worthy

A look at an off beat, less known watch you might actually like

Meister singer is not a new watchmaker, nor are they completely unknown. They’ve been making one-handed watches for more than 20 years, keeping this quirky orientation with interesting complications very much alive. Now they have a new one, limited to only 200 pieces, but selling for a bit over $2.500. Awesome value for money
